It is one of the most common hospital-aquired infections, is a potent nosocomial and has become a major public health concern both in North America and in Europe. Some cases of community-acquired C. difficile have also been reported.

ProGastro Cd's sensitivity and specificity make it an excellent choice for diagnosis of symptomatic patients. In clinical trials, ProGastro Cd detected 43% more positive test results than the gold-standard cytotoxin assay. The most commonly used test, EIA, has been reported to have sensitivity of less than 50% versus molecular methods.
3-hour time to result
ProGastro Cd employs the same easy-to-use, flexible format as Prodesse's respiratory virus tests. Results are available in about 3 hours, while cytotoxin assay results usually take at least 48 hours.
