Cleveland Clinic Health System to Use Prodesse Reagents

WAUKESHA, WI (March 6, 2006) – Prodesse announced today that The Cleveland Clinic Health System (CCHS) has completed development and validation of their home brew assay using Prodesse's reagents.

The Prodesse reagents were used to develop a real time PCR assay which, from a single sample, can detect and differentiate three of the most important respiratory viruses (Influenza A virus, Influenza B virus and RSV). Prodesse reagents enable labs to develop assays requiring minimal hands-on time.

Belinda Yen-Lieberman, Ph.D., Medical Director, Virology and Serology, commented, “We will be using our assay to virtually eliminate DFA, culture and rapid antigen testing for these respiratory viruses.”

Tom Shannon, Prodesse CEO, said, "As one of the top four hospitals in the U.S. according to the latest US News and World Report survey, The Cleveland Clinic has a worldwide reputation for excellence. With many large institutions domestic and abroad currently developing and validating assays incorporating our reagents, it appears that clinical labs are fully embracing the notion that these reagents provide an efficient and effective basis for developing test methods for molecular diagnostics detection of infectious diseases."
